Built the way the law intends

Our commitment
Accessibility is not a compliance checkbox on this site — it is the substance of Melissa Nyman's work. melissanyman.com conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, verified page by page with automated and manual testing, and goes beyond AA where it counts for readers with low vision or motor and vestibular disabilities.
Beyond the minimum
- Body and secondary text meet the stricter WCAG AAA contrast bar (7:1), and every color pairing is additionally checked against the APCA method proposed for WCAG 3.
- Focus indicators are thick, offset, high-contrast rings (WCAG 2.4.13, an AAA criterion).
- Navigation and footer links carry enlarged touch targets (toward the 44px AAA size).
- Motion is minimal and decorative only; every animation is disabled when your system asks for reduced motion, and the logo marquee becomes a manual scroller.
- If your system asks for more contrast, the site's gray text and hairlines darken to match.
- High Contrast / forced-colors modes are styled deliberately, not left to chance.
How this site is built
- Semantic HTML landmarks, headings, and lists throughout, with a skip-to-content link.
- Full keyboard operability — every link and control is reachable and visibly focused.
- Images carry meaningful alternative text; decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers.
- Text sizes in relative units that respect your browser's font-size setting; an 18px body floor.
- The layout reflows cleanly at 400% zoom and 320px-wide screens with no horizontal scrolling.
- No information is conveyed by color alone; links in body copy are underlined.
